This shows a "before" image on the left and the "after" image on the right. I work from photographs of the pet, usually combining parts from several photos in order to achieve the desired pose. In this case, I built the arm and paw holding the umbrella. The umbrella and background were drawn in the computer. The layers of cushions were built using the pattern of the pillow in the photo. I exaggerate certain features of the pet (head size, eyes, ears, paws, etc) to add to the overall whimsy. Digitally painted brush strokes are added to provide a painterly quality.
